A professional PA system and stage lighting is included in all packages. If your venue can provide this though, or you would rather use a separate external supplier, then we can reduce the price accordingly.

Interval music

Interval music is provided as standard free of charge. This is usually provided on iPod, CD or laptop. Alternatively you can choose to put your own play list together and we can manage it for you OR we can provide a separate DJ who would take requests in advance and at the event. In the case of a DJ we would also share some of the equipment to minimise the amount of equipment necessary on stage.

Additional music for drinks receptions and/or dinner

All of our musicians are extremely talented jazz musicians and hence we can also provide a live jazz band for your drinks reception or meal / wedding breakfast. This is much cheaper than hiring a jazz band separately as our musicians will already be at your event. Please see 'Urban Jazz Collective' for more information on live jazz for drinks reception and dinner.

Once you have chosen your ideal live band package we will then advise you of any points to consider with your chosen option. Once this has been discussed we can proceed with the booking and get the date into the diary! Please also note that ANY of the details of your event can be changed at a later date if necessary, so if you need to add a singer, add a set of music or change the start/finish time, that's no problem. Just let us know as soon as you know and we will make the relevant changes.

Please contact us for more information on building your own band and for a full price list.

"Mix & Match" repertoire and musicians to build your band

The unique way in which The Musicquarium works gives you the best of both worlds; the personal service and guaranteed quality of hiring a band direct with the musicians AND the choice of options that you would only usually find with a live music booking agency. You are not limited to having just one band at your event; you can choose any size of band and any repertoire that you like and we will put the perfect live band together to provide exactly what you need. For example, if your perfect wedding band is a mix of repertoire from our funk/soul/70s band and our swing/jazz/ratpack band then we can tailor the instrumentation to make it possible!

Our prices are only determined by the size of band, not the instrumention or repertoire. If we have given you a price for, say, a 5-piece band playing pop/rock and you want to mix it with some swing/jazz then the price will be exactly the same

Create your own bespoke band in 5 easy steps:

1. Choose your repertoire
2. Choose your instrumentation
3. Choose your performance length
4. Choose your equipment package
5. Choose your interval music

If you are looking for music to dance to then we recommend that you use the 'core' instruments of bass guitar and drums. On top of this you will need at least 1 of either keyboards or guitar, depending on the style of music you are looking for. For example, swing/jazz music would need keyboards and not guitar but rock/indie music would definitely need a guitar. If possible within budget all bands that are required to play a mix of different styles will need BOTH guitar and keyboards. Your vocalist can be male or female or multiples of either. On top of this you can add a brass section ranging in size from 1 (sax) to 4 (2 x sax, trumpet, trombone). We also have the option of using multi-tasking musicians who either sing AND play an instrument OR play 2 instruments, hence keeping costs even lower for certain options. The complete list of options is as follows:

Male singer(s)
Female singer(s)
Male rock singer (also plays guitar)
Male jazz/swing singer (also plays keyboards)
Male soul/pop/jazz/swing singer (also plays sax)
Saxophone (alto, tenor, baritone)
Bass Guitar

For reference the smallest 'live' dance band option is a 3-piece band consisting of EITHER male jazz/swing singer (also plays keyboards) + bass + drums OR male rock singer (also plays guitar) + bass + drums. There is no limit to the maximum size you can choose although the largest band over the last few years was a 14-piece (4 singers, 4 brass, 2 guitars, keyboards, bass, drums, percussion).
